T. Boone’s Sleight of Hand – Keep Your Eye on the (Water) Ball

With all of T. Boone Pickens’ hot air spewing about investing in renewable wind energy, even his right-wing friends are calling him out on his plan.

In doing a Google search on Pickens and Eminent Domain (yes I Google search stuff like this all the time), I came across an opinion piece from FoxNews.com. My browser usually crashes if I click on anything with “FoxNews” in the URL, but it didn’t this time.

You see, my progressive computer must have realized that behind all of the oil and gas talking points trying to discredit Mr. Pickens’ wind plan, the author actually touched on the real issue behind Mr. Pickens’ miraculous conversion to renewable wind energy. HIS REAL OBJECTIVE IS TO STEAL AND SELL ALL OF THE WATER FROM THE TEXAS PANHANDLE! (and some of Oklahoma’s and Nebraska’s too!)

And if you’re like me and refuse to give any credibility to the bought and paid for editorialists at foxnews.com, here’s a much more aesthetically pleasing video on the issue from treehugger.com.

So there you have it. The oil and gas interests at foxnews.com on the right and environmentally progressive interests on the left, both arriving at a similar conclusion regarding the Pickens’ Plan. And despite the proverbial dogs and cats sleeping together, many Texans (and others) are still being fooled by Pickens’ magical misdirection. He tries to woo us with his talk of renewable energy while at the same time, stealing the very resource that is critical to survival. And he’s accomplishing it in a large part by manipulating the GOP Legislature through his lavish campaign contributions.

While this take on Pickens’ motives has been discussed before, it certainly warrants additional scrutiny by policy makers. Preferably by a more progressive lot than currently occupies the Pink building.
